Bell Let’s Talk Day: January 28th

Good Afternoon Guardian Nation,

The Bell Let’s Talk Day is this Thursday, January 28th. It’s a day when Bell donates 5 cents for every applicable text, call, tweet, or TikTok video using #BellLetsTalk, social media video view, or Facebook/ Snapchat filter.

Bell Let’s Talk is passionate about ending the stigma of mental health. One of the biggest hurdles for anyone suffering from mental illness is overcoming the stigma attached to it. Bell Let’s Talk offers 5 simple ways to end the stigma and start the conversation:

1. Language Matters: The words you use can make all the difference.

2. Educate Yourself: Having the right tools, knowing the right words to use, and understanding how to correctly speak with someone experiencing a mental illness can make all the difference.

3. Be Kind: Simple kindness can make a world of a difference. Call a friend, smile at someone, be a good listener… simple acts of kindness go a long way.

4. Listen and Ask: Being a good listener and asking how you can help is the first step to supporting another person.

5. Talk About It: Two out of three people suffer in silence, fearing judgement and rejection. Being open to a conversation is an important first step.

If you want to learn more about this campaign, visit https://letstalk.bell.ca/en/.

Happy Bell Let’s Talk Day!

P.S. We have been working on resilience for the month of January in our Umbrella Project. Please remind your children that they have become better at gratitude, grit, and self-compassion as well through the Umbrella Project this year! Reflecting on our strengths/skills is often a great way to feel good today and into the future!

Take Care and have an awesome afternoon/evening!

Wacky Hair and Crazy Hat Day

Good Morning Guardian Nation!

I hope everyone is great on this beautiful, sunny Wednesday morning! I am reaching out to you today to share a message from our Student Council. They have decided to hold our first online theme day for this year. This Friday, January 29th is going to be Holy Family Wacky Hair/Crazy Hat Day! Here is the blurb from the Student Council:

“Hello Guardians, On Friday January 29th, we are having a virtual Funky Hair/Hat Day! Style it, spike it, dye it do something funky. If you don’t want to get your hair all messy, no worries, if you have a funky hat you can wear that instead. See you on Friday!! And remember, GET CREATIVE!”

I can’t wait to see the spirit that our Guardians will show on Friday. Even though we are apart right now to keep everyone safe and healthy, we are still together! Guardian Spirit is unstoppable!

I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday!

Online School Update

Good Morning Guardian Nation

I hope this email finds you well on this cold Thursday morning. As of now, you have probably heard about the extension of our Online Learning beyond January 25th. We do not have any official news at this point about a return date, but the online learning platform that is being used now will continue past January 25th. As soon as we have any updates to share, I will forward them on.

As well, I wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow is a PD Day for teachers to write Term 1 Report Cards, which means there will be no school for students. Online classes will pickup on Monday.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us at the school if you have any questions.

Synchronous Learning Connectivity Issues

Good Morning Guardian Nation!

I hope all is well on this fine Thursday morning. We seem to be experiencing some widespread connectivity issues with our synchronous learning, which appears to be affecting many across the board using the Google Platform. We are receiving many reports of lagging, inability to hear, and losing connections. The board is investigating and the problem is hopefully going to be resolved later this morning.

Thank You in advance for your patience and understanding.

Keep up the good fight and show your resilience Guardians!
