On Jan. 31st Ms. Cater and her student leaders lead the school in our “Let’s talk” assembly and student activities. The focus was to bring awareness to the stigma of mental and emotional health. We choose to focus on actions individuals can do to help create positive feelings in others and that it is “OK” to let someone know when you are not feeling emotionally well. The school went for a walk, created posters with positive messages and held a”Break a rule day”. For a each “loonie” students brought in they could break a rule(ie. chew gum, wear a hat, use electronics). The students raised $403.00 which was donated to Front Door- access for student and youth mental health services.
