Reminder: Operation Christmas Child “Shoeboxes”

This Christmas Season, Holy Family School is participating in the “Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child!”

Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for Canadians to bless struggling children in the developing world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and other items. They collect the boxes and distribute them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in desperate situations.  Operation Christmas Child is an important way to remind children suffering as a result of war, poverty, famine, disease, and disaster that they are loved and not forgotten. Each year, millions of shoeboxes are packed with gifts by people in Canada and nine other countries, and given to children in more than 100 “receiving” countries.  Please check out the website for more information:

Each classroom at Holy Family has received a shoebox to fill with gifts for children around the world that may not normally receive a present at Christmas.  The packing will take place between November 18th-22nd only!  Friday will be the last day to bring in items.

What to pack: stuffed animals/dolls, small toys/cars, clothes, musical instrument, balls, yo-yos, jump ropes, school supplies (ie: colouring books and crayons), non-liquid hygiene items (ie: toothbrushes, combs, washcloths, etc.), personal notes/cards and photos of the students/class.

What we CAN NOT include: candy/food, toothpaste, used or damaged items, liquids or lotions, and breakable items.

Thank you so much for your contributions and helping to make it a special Christmas for children around the world!
